Each session is 2 hours long and is roughly structured as follows:
  • Welcome / Check-in / Sharing from the week - 10 mins
  • Teaching and Group Sharing of new content - 55 mins
  • Breakout into Companioning groups - 45 mins
  • Checkout - 10 mins

All Sessions will be recorded for participant re-viewing as desired.

Group size limited to 12-14 people.

In this eight-week in-depth study and practicum, we will explore the practice of BioSpiritual Focusing (BSF), based on the book written by Fr. Peter A. Campbell, Ph.D. and Fr. Edwin M. McMahon, Ph.D, entitled, Rediscovering the Lost Body-Connection Within Christian Spirituality. Each evening will highlight key topics of specific chapters and include a group discussion on these topics and chapters. Members will be broken out into groups and will be Companioned through Focusing sessions by experienced BSF Companions.

Over the course of this study, you will become more aware of the sacred story you carry in your own body and the movement of grace in your life.


​Prerequisite: Basic familiarity with BioSpiritual Focusing is necessary, BioSpiritual Focusing: Day of Presence or Weekend Retreat is recommended.

You will also need to have a copy of Rediscovering the Lost Body-Connection Within Christian Spirituality

You will be led through this experience by:

Donna O'Connor
Donna O’Connor is the BioSpiritual Focusing Coordinator at Genesis Spiritual Life Center in Westfield, Massachusetts, a retreat leader, and long-time spiritual director. Donna has a special interest in helping people who struggle with weight, body image, and eating disorders and is experienced in 12-Step Spirituality. 

Mike Smoolca

Mike Smoolca is a contemplative group and workshop facilitator and a dedicated teacher and student of contemplative practice and wisdom spirituality. He is a Contemplative Outreach presenter and coordinator for the Christian Contemplative Experience at Holy Family, Contemplative Outreach of CT, and the Northern CT Chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society. Mike is a practicing spiritual director and supervisor as well as a BioSpiritual Focusing companion and teacher.​
